MISIÓN
Nuestra misión es desarrollar estudiantes que se puedan comunicar efectivamente en el idioma inglés. Se reconoce que un fuerte dominio de la lengua vernácula es fundamental para el aprendizaje efectivo de otras lenguas. Por lo tanto, es crucial la integración entre los programas de inglés y español.
Queremos fomentar en todos los estudiantes el pensamiento crítico y creativo. Estos deberán comunicarse oralmente y por escrito en el idioma inglés; además de interactuar según las altas expectativas y demandas de la sociedad global contemporánea. El Programa ofrecerá un currículo enriquecedor, integrado y restante que tome en consideración el trasfondo social, económico, cultural y personal de cada estudiante; incluyendo sus conocimientos y capacidades. De esta forma, podrá encarar nuevos retos y será capaz de apoderarse de las oportunidades del mundo global, para que se integre en el enfoque educativo del Siglo XXI, aspirando al dominio de dos o más idiomas
VISIÓN
El Programa de Inglés del Departamento de Educación de Puerto Rico se propone desarrollar estudiantes que puedan comunicarse de forma creativa, reflexiva y crítica en el idioma inglés. Estos deberán sentirse comprometidos con su lengua materna y su cultura hispánica; desarrollando simultáneamente un alto sentido de solidaridad, respeto y aprecio por otras culturas.
METAS
El Programa de Inglés se dirige hacia el:
- Desarrollar en el estudiante la capacidad de comunicarse efectivamente, tanto de forma oral, como escrita en el idioma inglés.
- Desarrollar en los estudiantes las competencias en todas las dimensiones del conocimiento desde su inicio en el desarrollo de las destrezas lingüísticas en inglés integradas con las diversas materias.
- Guiar al estudiante a acceder, organizar, investigar y evaluar información obtenida a través de recursos tecnológicos u otros medios esenciales para el desarrollo de las destrezas de lectura y escritura en inglés.
- académicos, sociales e interactivos usando las cuatro (4) áreas del lenguaje: escuchar, hablar, leer y escribir.
- Proveer acceso al currículo del Programa de Inglés a todos los niños y jóvenes con necesidades especiales.
- Fomentar el desarrollo de estrategias remediativas para atender las necesidades particulares de los estudiantes y que estos puedan obtener un dominio proficiente de los estándares académicos de la materia.
- Desarrollar actividades educativas alineadas con los Estándares de Contenido y Expectativas por Grado, usando el "Assessment", dentro de un contexto significativo y pertinente.
- Reforzar la enseñanza de valores éticos, morales y las actitudes a través de experiencias educativas.
- Desarrollar en el alumno el pensamiento crítico, creativo y analítico a través de la experiencia educativa a la que es expuesto durante el proceso de aprendizaje.
- Armonizar los estilos de aprendizaje durante el proceso de enseñanza del inglés, ofreciendo experiencias auténticas.
PRIORIDADES DEL PROGRAMA
- Revisión del estándares y expectativas por grado
- Revisión de los mapas curriculares alineados a los nuevos estándares
- Capacitar a los Superintendentes de la Docencia, Facilitadores Docentes, Directores Escolares y maestros sobre los nuevos estándares y mapas curriculares
- Certificación de Maestros
- Continuar desarrollando la Semana de Inglés y otras actividades innovadoras que fortalezcan y promuevan la adquisición del Inglés como segundo idioma y así estén preparados para enfrentarse al mundo del trabajo o carrera universitaria (CCR)
SERVICIOS
- Examen de Proficiencia y Bilingüe
Todo aspirante a certificarse como maestro de inglés que ha terminado su bachillerato, debe someter su documentación a la División de Certificaciones y completar todo los requisitos que el Departamento de Educación le requiera. Se le proveerá una comunicación escrita la cual le permite solicitar el Examen de Proficiencia al Programa de Inglés.
Deben traer carta emitida por la Oficina de Certificaciones indicando que deberá solicitar el examen.

Our mission is to develop students who can effectively communicate in English. It is recognized that a strong command of the vernacular is essential for effective learning of other languages. Therefore, it is crucial integration between English and Spanish programs.
We want to encourage all students' critical and creative thinking. They should communicate orally and in writing in the English language; and interact according to the high expectations and demands of contemporary global society. The program will offer a rich, integrated and remaining curriculum that takes into account the social, economic, cultural and personal background of each student; including their knowledge and skills. In this way, you can face new challenges and be able to seize the opportunities of the global world, to be integrated into the educational approach of the XXI Century, aspiring to the domain of two or more languages.
English Program Department of Education of Puerto Rico aims to develop students who can communicate creative, reflective and critical in the English language form. These should feel committed to their native language and Hispanic culture; simultaneously developing a high sense of solidarity, respect and appreciation for other cultures.
English Program is directed towards:
- Develop in students the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing in the English language.
- Develop students' skills in all dimensions of knowledge since its inception in the development of English language skills integrated with various materials.
- Guide the student to access, organize, investigate and evaluate information obtained through technological means or other essential resources for the development of reading and writing skills in English. academic, social and interactive using the four (4) areas of language: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
- Provide access to English Program curriculum for all children and youth with special needs.
- Encourage the development of remediation strategies to address the particular needs of students and that they can get a proficient mastery of the academic standards of the matter.
- Develop educational activities aligned with Content Standards and Expectations by Grade, using the "Assessment" in a meaningful and relevant context.
- Strengthen the teaching of ethical, moral values and attitudes through educational experiences.
- Develop in students a critical, creative and analytical thinking through the educational experience to which it is exposed during the learning process.
- Harmonizing learning styles during the process of teaching English, offering authentic experiences.
- Revision of the standards and expectations by grade
- Review of curriculum maps aligned to the new standards
- Train Superintendents of Teaching, Facilitators Teachers, School Principals and teachers about new standards and curriculum maps
- Teacher Certification
- Continue to develop the Week English and other innovative activities that strengthen and promote the acquisition of ESL and so are ready to face the world of work or college career (CCR).
- Bilingual Proficiency Test
Every candidate for certification as an English teacher who has completed high school must submit documentation to the Division of Certification and complete all the requirements that the Department of Education requires it. It will provide a written communication that allows you to request Proficiency Examination Program English.
They must bring a letter issued by the Office of Certification stating that you must apply the test.
